It stands to reason that you can clean your grout in tiles at the same time as you clean, with no additional measures. However, over time, grout can develop stains or other issues that necessitate a little extra attention. So, Duratiles has devised a guide for you during Covid Times so tiles and grouts can stay clean.
To deep clean grout:
Use a grout brush (or an old toothbrush) and a cleaner designed especially for tile and grout. Vacuum up the polluted water with a wet-dry vacuum if necessary, to lift the soil off the joint. Then, rinse with clean water and vacuum to remove any remaining soap.
How to Remove Grout Stains:
Tough stains can be easily removed with a steam cleaner. The pressurized steam forces the stains to the surface of the grout. Through it, they can be quickly scrubbed away.
How to keep the grout from staining:
Many grouts in tiles is now self-sealing to keep staining at bay. If you are not using a self-sealing cementitious grout, seal it after installation. And then reseal it on a regular basis to preserve stain and moisture resistance, reduce maintenance, and help the grout retain its original color.
To remove mold or mildew from grout, follow these steps:
The hard-fired surface from the duratile of porcelain and ceramic tiles renders it inert and inhospitable to bacteria, mold, and mildew. A breakdown in your grout’s sealant could allow water, soap, and oily dirt into the subsurface, allowing bacteria to develop.
To prevent future mold and mildew growth.
You need to use an alkaline cleaner, such as bleach, for deep cleaning. you should thoroughly rinse the area, thoroughly dry the grout, and apply a sealer within 24 hours. Porcelain and ceramic surfaces from Duratiles are bleach-safe and will not be damaged or faded by bleach, unlike some nonceramic surface products.
PRO tip
If you can’t remove a stain or want to cover your grout with self-sealing grout, you can remove the old grout in tiles and regrout. Before taking any action, seek the advice of an expert. Never grout over old grout without first scraping it.
