How to Make Square Tile Unique

Use Diagonal Square Tiles: to Lay It Out Diagonally

Considering how minor the alteration is, the diagonal arrangement lends a surprising degree of refinement to square tile.

A diagonal plan, like checkerboard tile, is an easy technique to make the square tile more intriguing. Simply rotate your tile 45 degrees to create a diagonal tile.

Subway Tile: Offset

Because of its resemblance to the prevalent tile trend, square tile with a 50 percent offset is sometimes known as subway tile.

Adding an offset to your square tile is another effective approach to make a statement. Because a subway tile design is normally a rectangle tile with a 50 percent offset, adding the same offset to a tile creates a similar appearance.

Think Outside the Square: Square Tiles in a Variety of Shapes

Square tiles are used with tiles of other forms in some of the most creative tile designs.

Using square does not preclude the usage of other tile forms. Combining squares with various shapes is an excellent technique to create a unique tile pattern. And boy, do you have a lot of options: circle tile, hexagon tile, diamond tile, triangular tile, fish scale tile… the list goes on.

Tile Layout Patterns: Have confidence in the Tried and True

The windmill pattern, which incorporates both square and rectangle tiles, produces a sensation of movement.

Instead of integrating square tiles with other tile shapes in your own design, you may go for a layout pattern that incorporates squares as well as other forms. In addition to this, there are a variety of tile layout patterns that contain squares, including the hopscotch pattern, corridor pattern, windmill pattern, and pinwheel pattern, in addition to the typical grid design.

Rugs

A tile rug, such as the patterned one seen above, may serve as an eye-catching focal point in your room.

By adding a tile rug into your square tile design, you may define a certain section of your room. Tile rugs are defined with a tile border or simply by changing the style of the tiles in that region. Moreover, Tile carpets are frequently seen in living rooms, beneath kitchen islands and dining tables, as well as in entryways and corridors.

Tile Pavers for the Outdoors

Square tile pavers can be used to create a pathway or patio. Tile pavers are a unique alternative for installing tile outside since they may be put individually, directly on the ground, as seen above. Outdoor pathways, decks, porches, and patios are perfect for tile pavers.

Increase the number of squares: Squares on Squares

On bigger square tiles, this diagonal square pattern is a multi-colored motif. Can’t get enough of the squares? Include more. Similarly, the square tile bathroom wall with a diagonal checkerboard square design (in multi-colors!) has a square-on-square feel to it. And that simply goes to show that there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

Maintain Simplicity Insane

While we enjoy the variety of tiles available, we are nevertheless drawn to the orderliness of a typical grid. There’s a clean, practical, and even soothing appeal to monochrome grids.
